Looking for:
Convenience? See our locations page for a map showing vendor locations.
Variety?  See our Green Chile Stands page.
Bargains?   Go to WalMart.  Don't expect variety, knowledge or even to know exactly what you're buying.  But, hey, it's cheap.

Categories of Vendors

  1. Roadside Vendors & Markets
Often open full time, they generally offer the widest variety of chiles and many (but not all) are very knowledgeable about chiles.
  2. Farms & Farmers Markets
Many farms near Denver (particularly Brighton) grow their own chiles and hire people to sell them at farmers markets throughout Denver. You can buy their chiles by either visiting the farm or one of the farmers markets. Each farmers market is typically open only a half-day a week. Some are knowledgeable and some aren't; at a farm, you should be able to locate someone who can answer questions.
  3. Grocers
You can now buy roasted chiles at Whole Foods and at WalMart Supercenters. Roasting is only on weekends. Go to wholefoods.com or walmart.com and call ahead to get roasting hours and availability at a specific location. They typically offer "mild, medium, and hot" and don't expect anyone to know anything about chiles. WalMart is selling chiles for $.98/lb, roasted.
